What An Egg: Greg Foran Quits Air NZ To Scramble Walmart’s Egg Crisis
NZ — Greg Foran, chief executive of Air New Zealand, has resigned from his post and announced his return to Walmart, the retail giant where he once held the top role.
Sources confirm Foran will not reclaim his former title as president and CEO of Walmart U.S. Instead, he has been tasked with addressing the company’s ongoing egg shortage, a situation insiders describe as “a bit of a mess.”
Foran’s departure from Air New Zealand follows a challenging five-year stint that began in February 2020. Annual reports show Air New Zealand posted a net loss of NZ$454 million in 2022. “Greg did his best,” an airline spokesperson said, “but he was just not liked.”
“Glad he’s gone,” said a pilot. “What an egg.”
In his new role, Foran is expected to liaise with poultry suppliers to boost production and lower costs. Company memos suggest he’s already proposed a line of budget eggs to fix the problem.
“Only an egg can fix the egg crisis,” said Walmart President and CEO Doug McMillan.
At publishing time, Greg was seen making an egg of himself while trying to make an egg sandwich.
