Syrian Leader Says Kill Christians Just Don't Film The Killings
Syria’s interim leader Ahmed al-Sharaa—former Al Qaeda franchisee turned statesman—has issued a stern directive to his soldiers: keep slaughtering Christians, Alawites, and other minority groups, but for the love of Allah, stop filming it.
The order comes amid a PR crisis for the recently rebranded Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the ex-terrorist outfit now governing Syria after ousting Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.
Once celebrated for their viral beheading montages set to nasheeds, HTS commanders are scrambling to adapt to their new role as tolerant unifiers following a wave of poorly lit iPhone footage showing massacres in Latakia and Tartus.
