HOLLYWOOD — Saturday Night Live has announced that comedy legend Eddie Murphy will return to the show, marking the end of what they're officially recognising as a 40-year comedy drought on SNL.
"Yes, we've finally admitted it, the last time we were funny was 1984, when Eddie Murphy left SNL because we were starting to be woke," confessed an SNL spokesperson at the 50-year anniversary.
Murphy, who last graced the SNL stage in 1984 before he left to become a household name with movies like "Beverly Hills Cop" and "Coming to America," is expected to make SNL funny again.
The news has sparked a wave of nostalgia, with former fans dusting off their VHS tapes of old SNL episodes, hoping this will finally be the catalyst for the show's return to its comedic glory days.
At publishing time, SNL has also confirmed it will fire all woke comedians from the show.
