Peters Doesn't Rule Out Working With Labour Incase Jacinda Returns
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters has made it clear he won’t rule out working with Labour incase Jacinda Ardern returns to politics.
“If I look at how National is performing, alongside election results in the UK, Canada, and Australia, Labour could win if Hipkins isn’t leading. But they won’t win without me,” Peters said.
According to the latest Taxpayers’ Union-Curia poll, if Jacinda Ardern were to lead Labour starting 90 days before the election, the party could secure a victory by forming a Coalition with Peters’ Party.
Former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has been busy revitalising her image, with her husband, Clarke Gayford, acting as her PR manager. “The plan is to push content and narratives that make people forget her past decisions and pave the way for a comeback. Getting her back into office would be historic,” Gayford said.
At the time of publishing, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon hasn’t ruled out jumping ship to Labour if Peters decides to form the next government with them.
