Nicola Willis Unveils Bold New Tattoo
On Sunday’s Q&A with Jack Tame, New Zealand Finance Minister Nicola Willis stunned viewers by revealing a “1%” tattoo on her forehead, symbolising her dedication to the country’s projected 1% annual economic growth over the next five years.
“This 1% is proof New Zealand is the ultimate paradise to live and work!” Willis declared. “It’s a tiny number with a massive heart—Kiwis should be thrilled!”
Host Jack Tame erupted into laughter, barely composing himself to respond, “1%??? That’s it? No wonder 191 Kiwis are fleeing daily.” Tame’s jab highlighted the ongoing exodus, with many New Zealanders seeking better opportunities abroad despite Willis’ optimistic spin on the modest growth forecast.
Willis doubled down, insisting, “1 percent is the new ten percent—it’s the Kiwi way! As a conservative nation, 1 percent is HUGE, we should be proud of ourselves.”
At publishing time, sources confirmed Willis will update the tattoo, adding a denomination of 0.8% towards the end of next year.
