New Zealand Deputy Police Commissioner Suspended For Posting Memes On Facebook
NZ — Deputy Police Commissioner Jevon McSkimming has been suspended amid allegations of posting memes on social media. The second-most powerful police officer in the country, who was once thought to be in line for the top job, has been put on leave not for expressing humour online.
“This is a violation of our code,” said Police Commissioner Richard Chambers. “As you may know, posting memes on social media is an offence. Last thing we need is a police officer doing that.”
According to sources who wish to remain anonymous, McSkimming's crime spree involved a series of memes that ranged from vaccine injury to slightly criticising Jacinda Ardern, which apparently crossed the line.
The Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) and New Zealand Police are reportedly combing through McSkimming's social media history with the intensity usually reserved for catching international drug lords. "Early analysis suggest he’s been posting memes every 20 minutes, for the last week, racking up 72 posts per day" said Chambers.
McSkimming has not yet commented on the situation, Elon said that New Zealand Police should be focusing on rapists instead.
At publishing time, McSkimming has shared another post of himself wearing a gang patch.
