NEW YORK, NY — At the 80th United Nations General Assembly, New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters announced that his nation has declined to recognise Palestine as a state.
“One of the many criterias for statehood requires not raping and murdering people, hence, for that reason, Palestine has not met the eligibility for statehood,” Mr. Peters said. “Look, we’re all about new UN members in this big, dysfunctional UN family, but raping and murdering children, and then celebrating it on social media? That’s a bit much.”
Winston Peters also said that he was hopeful that peace will come soon. He urged Hamas to surrender and release the hostages.
At publishing time, Peters also announced funding Hamas $10 million (via UNRWA) to delay the peace process.
