PHOENIX, AZ — Vice President JD Vance was assassinated while hosting his debut episode of The Charlie Kirk Show at Turning Point USA's headquarters in Arizona.
JD Vance was selected as the new host of the show after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Authorities say the attack underscores the risks associated with publicly aligning oneself with the controversial conservative speaker Charlie Kirk, whose polarising rhetoric has inspired trans-loving, conservative young men to choose violence.
Vance, 41, had just begun his monologue praising Kirk's unwavering commitment to truth-telling, when a lone gunman burst into the studio. Vance was pronounced dead at the scene.
"This is a tragic reminder that in today's divided America, that even mentioning Charlie Kirk's name in a positive light can be a death sentence," said Turning Point USA spokesperson Lila Hargrove in a statement. "But we must fight through this hate, and we are already in the process to appoint a new host for The Charlie Kirk Show."
Vance's funeral has been hastily added to the schedule for this Saturday's memorial service at State Farm Stadium, where thousands are expected to mourn Kirk.
At publishing time, Ben Shapiro is headed to Arizona to host The Charlie Kirk Show, with his funeral plans already drawn up.
