NZ — In a tell-all memoir, former New Zealand Finance Minister Grant Robertson confessed he’s in recovery for a spending addiction that saw him spend $55 billion during his time in office.
Titled My Spending Addiction, Robertson’s book claims he’s kicked his dillion-dollar spending habit while dodging Instagram scandals, nursing a busted back, and eating his way through panic attacks.
“I was hooked,” Robertson writes. “Every time I saw a crisis, I’d reach for the taxpayer’s wallet. It is a drug. You can spend how much you want. No limits. And I spent it all, like a kid in a candy store.”
Robertson also hints at his infamous Instagram escapades, where he allegedly liked risqué pics of Filipino teens, sparking a 2023 firestorm. “I thought liking those posts was me enjoying some downtime. Oops. I had a lot of shame to work through thanks to my secret desires.”
At press time, Grant says the memories of his addiction still causes panic attacks which he soothes with a pepper steak pie.
