Mainstream Media Claims Hitler Loved Free Speech And Used It To Commit The Genocide Of European Jews

U.S. — Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan, during an interview with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, claimed that the Holocaust happened because Nazis loved free speech, and that Hitler used free speech in his efforts to exterminate the entire population of European Jews.

“Are you retarded?” responded Marco Rubio with Margaret interrupting to defend her position. “No hold on. I disagree. The real truth is that Hitler was an authoritarian who was genocidal. That combination is what led to the murder of millions of Jews. Nazi Germany did not have free speech, it was a nation that was oppressed from speech.”

Elon quickly jumped in to ‘fact check’ this claim. “One of the first things Hitler did upon gaining power was apply aggressive censorship.” Snopes would disagree with this claim, but he is right, the Nazis banned opposition media, burned books, jailed dissenters, and controlled all speech, which is the exact opposite of free expression.

Brennan brought this claim to the Secretary of State, concerned about the speech Vice President J.D. Vance recently delivered in Europe, about Europe’s efforts to pursue censorship, something that Hitler did. But Rubio wasn’t having it. “I think allies and friends and partners that have worked together now for eighty years should be able to speak frankly to one another in open forums, without being offended, insulted or upset."
