NZ — Jacinda Ardern has been named in the 2024 New Zealand Year Honours for the second time. This time, she's receiving not just another honor, but a second damehood, because apparently, one damehood simply wasn't sufficient to acknowledge her role in saving an estimated 80,000 lives.
This has led to Ardern being referred to as "Dame Dame Jacinda."
The ceremony, held in Kensington Palace, was a spectacle to behold, with Dame Dame Ardern accepting her second badge.
The Honours Committee defended their decision by stating that Ardern's leadership during the health crisis was so exceptional, it warranted an unprecedented double honor. “She deserves a third one to be frank,” said Prince Williams.
At publishing time, Dame Dame Jacinda Ardern said that two is not enough, and she expects a third damehood in 2025.
