Christchurch Declares State Of Emergency Over Changing Seasons
Christchurch has declared a state of emergency as the city grapples with the arrival of its winter season, a routine shift that has sparked an exaggerated response.
Emergency Management Minister Mark Mitchell is on the ground in Canterbury, personally overseeing the situation. The declaration, prompted by seasonal changes, has locals scratching their heads, wondering why a predictable weather pattern warrants such alarm.
“Look, it’s a season change, but we just want to watch it closer,” Mitchell said. “The rain’s coming down as expected, and we’re seeing some puddles. But we can’t be too careful—those puddles could deepen!”
At publishing time, Christchurch remained under a state of emergency, with Mitchell spotted inspecting a particularly menacing puddle on New Brighton Road.
