American Influencer Who Snatched A Baby Wombat From Its Mother, Has Arrived In New Zealand On A Quest To Snatch A Baby Kiwi From Its Mother
Samantha Strable, an American influencer known for her controversial TikTok stunts, arrived in New Zealand after fleeing Australia amid a public backlash over her snatching of a baby wombat from its mother.
Strable, who has a large following, is now reportedly intent on capturing a baby kiwi, New Zealand’s endangered national bird, as part of what of her plans to continue riding on her fame for clicks.
The incident in Australia unfolded when Strable posted a video showing herself taking a baby wombat from its mother in a rural area. The footage, which was later deleted, drew swift condemnation from Australian wildlife advocates and officials.
The mother wombat was visibly distressed as Strable ran off with the joey, prompting widespread criticism online and from government figures. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the act “reckless,” while Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke indicated that authorities were considering legal action before Strable left the country.
